When considering careers issues, it can be useful to talk to others who either are currently working within an area of interest to you, or have been in a similar situation to your current one.
Case Studies : Read all about what it is likely to be a student or a Chief Executive. These short case studies follow the careers of budding and experienced physicists enabling you to see how they went about making choices and developing themselves.
Branches: You can meet people in your local area by contacting your Branch. They hold local meetings on a variety of subjects.
Groups : The Institute's list of professional groups is extensive and covers a wide range of topics. Group meetings will bring you into contact with a range of people within specific areas of physics. If you are thinking of moving into a certain field you could attend one of these meetings and find out more about what it is like to be, for example, a medical physicist. Speakers: The Education Department has produced a booklet of speakers experienced in giving talks to schools. If you would like a copy please email Leila Solomon.
PEERS : This a free service from the Institute of Physics Publishing. It provides a moderated, global e-mail directory of people working in science; a place where you can search for peers, colleagues or other useful contacts in your chosen scientific field
