Online registration for the Conference is now closed.

This year sees the introduction of the new Nexus Student Conference, which amalgamates parts of the old Young Physicists Conference (YPC) and the Nexus AGM. Representatives from student physics and astronomy societies affiliated to Nexus are particularly encouraged to attend, although the event is open to any undergraduate or postgraduate student members of the IOP and Nexus.

The Conference takes place over the mid-November weekend at the Institute's headquarters in London, near Regent's Park (click here for directions and click here for a local area map), starting at 6pm on Friday 14 November and ending at 3pm on Sunday 16 November. Accommodation will be at the Generator Youth Hostel near Russell Square, a 15-20 minute walk from the IOP, sharing in rooms of four.

The Conference fee is £65 per person which includes all except travel to London. Participants are encouraged to book plane or train tickets well in advance to take advantage of cheaper fares.

If you do not require accommodation for either evening, then the fee will be £48. If you require it for one evening only, the fee will remain at £65. Please specify your requirements on the registration form.

When all places are gone, please contact nexus@iop.org if you wish to be placed on a waiting list in case of cancellations.

Registration Guidance

Note that you need to be an IOP and Nexus member to attend, and societies must be affiliated. Non-members or unaffiliated societies may register for now, but will be asked to join or affiliate subsequently.

On the registration form please remember to include your university under Affiliation. Please make sure to mark the boxes indicating that you need accommodation for one or both nights; some London based students may not need accommodation. Finally, please let us know under Special Requirements if you have any dietary needs (vegetarian, allergies etc.), if you would like to share a room with anyone and anything else we may need to be aware of.

Cancellations

Registrants who cancel their booking before the cancellation deadline of 7 November 2008 will receive a full refund minus a 20% administrative charge. All cancellations must be in writing to nexus@iop.org. No refund can be made to those notifying cancellation after 7 November 2008, unless a replacement is found.
